Astoria Shooting Suspect Arrested After Woman's Death: Police

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A New Jersey man stands accused of attempted murder after a triple shooting on Steinway Street claimed the life of a school safety officer celebrating her birthday, according to police and reports.

Quasawn Williams, 29, was arrested Wednesday, more than two months after shots rang out outside Solletto bar on Steinway and Astoria Boulevard in the early morning of Dec. 23, police said Thursday.

Bullets caught Mye Johnson, 27, in the torso and leg, another 27-year-old woman in the left knee, and a 27-year-old man in the buttocks, police said.

Johnson, who had been celebrating her birthday with her twin sister and friend, died at Mount Sinai Queens Hospital, according to police and a New York Post report.

The Brooklyn school safety agent lost her life after an argument broke out between her party and another group, the Post reported.
