Astoria Bagelry Among NYC's Most Popular Bagel Shops, Data Shows

ASTORIA, QUEENS — An Astoria bagel shop is among New Yorkers' go-tos for getting bagels, according to a new study.

Astoria's Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company received the third-most bagel orders out of all the city's bagel shops in 2021, according to newly-released Grubhub data.

The bagel store has five citywide locations (none of which are in Brooklyn, surprisingly), including three in Astoria — among those, the outpost at 36-14 30th Avenue gets the most orders, data shows.

Grubhub found that New Yorkers' favorite bagel flavor is everything, followed by cinnamon, onion, and blueberry — all of which are on the menu at Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company.

For New Yorkers who prefer bagel sandwiches, most go for the classic bacon egg and cheese or lox with scallion spread, Grubhub says. Egg and cheese bagels (for the meat averse), or B.L.T sandwiches (for the meat lovers) are the next most-popular orders, data shows.

Iterations of these, and an array of other classic sandwich fillings like egg-salad and whitefish, are on Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company's sandwich menu, too.

Queens residents who are willing to go a bit farther than Astoria can get a bagel at another one of the borough's popular shops: Whitestone's Utopia Bagels is the city's most popular bagel shop, and Forest Hills Bagels comes in at fourth spot, according to Grubhub.

Wherever you get your bagels, don't forget to order one on National Bagel Day, which is Saturday, Jan. 15.
