Astoria Man Accused Of Killing NYU Student While Drunk Driving: Police
An Astoria man is accused of driving drunk and fatally striking a 21-year-old NYU student on the Lower East Side this week.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — An Astoria man has been arrested in connection with a drunk-driving crash on the Lower East Side that left a young New York University student dead, according to police.
Michael Deguzman, 49, has been charged with driving while intoxicated during Monday's crash, which happened just before 3 a.m. at the intersection of First Avenue and East Houston Street, police said.
According to authorities, Raife Milligan, a 21-year-old originally from Indiana, was crossing East Houston Street when he was struck by Deguzman, who was driving east in his Chevrolet Camaro.

Deguzman then collided into a Honda CRV being driven by a 52-year-old man. Deguzman, two of his passengers, and the other driver were all taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Milligan was found lying on the street with trauma to the head. He was rushed to Bellevue, but could not be saved, police said.

According to a GoFundMe set up for his family, Milligan was studying biochemistry, played club volleyball, and "loved life to the fullest [while] always thinking of others first."
