Athens Square Park Getting 27-Foot Christmas Tree This Winter
A tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Dec. 2.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Local business owners and a nonprofit organization are joining forces to bring a large Christmas tree to Athens Square Park throughout the 2020 holiday season.
The Astoria Post reports the 27-foot Christmas tree is provided by a cohort of Greek-American and Italian-American business owners and Athens Square Inc., which collectively donated $25,000 to afford the tree itself and any necessary maintenance.
The cohort is made up of Sacco & Fillas, The Rock Health and Fitness, NY Spacefinders, Alma Bank and Farenga Funeral Homes.

A tree lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2, according to a Facebook post from Sacco & Fillas, a law firm. Attendees are reminded to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
