Astoria Subway Alert: N, W Trains Suspended
Astorians commuting to Manhattan Friday morning may need to find alternate routes: N and W trains are suspended in both directions.

Update: N and W service was restored by 9:30 a.m., but the MTA warned to expect delays.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — Astorians commuting to Manhattan Friday morning may need to find alternate routes: N and W trains are suspended in both directions, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Service was suspended between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard starting around 8:19 a.m., as crews investigated why a train's brakes activated at 57th Street, the MTA said in a tweet.

The suspension affected service into Manhattan and also within Astoria. R trains are also affected, running on the F line between Lexington Avenue-63rd Street and 36th Street in Queens.
For service to 5th Avenue/59th Street and Lexington Avenue/59th Street, the MTA suggests taking the E-M to 5th Avenue/53rd Street or Lexington Avenue/53rd Street.

"Extremely limited" shuttle train service was running between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard, the MTA said around 8:45 a.m., recommending that commuters take the Q69 or Q102 buses instead.
