City Parks Employee Arrested In LIC For Assaulting Coworker: Cops

An on-duty Parks Department employee was arrested Tuesday after beating up a coworker in Long Island City, according to police.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — An on-duty employee from the city's Parks Department was arrested in Long Island City early Tuesday after beating up one of his coworkers, according to police.

Darryl Brown, 46, was taken into custody around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, charged with assault, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to police, Brown had gotten into an argument with an unidentified coworker — who was also on-duty — on the corner of Ninth Street and 43rd Road, near the Long Island City waterfront.

When the fight turned physical, Brown hit the man in the face with both fists, causing pain and redness.

Officers responding to the scene allegedly found a knife in Brown's possession, leading to the weapons charge.

City payroll records show Brown has been employed with the Parks Department since 2018, listed simply as a "city parks worker" based in Queens.
