'Dead Ringers' Remake Filming At Astoria Bar: Sources
Rachel Weisz was cast as the lead in a TV series reboot of David Cronenberg's cult-classic movie, now filming at Kelly's Bar in Astoria.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A TV series remake of David Cronenberg's cult-classic film, Dead Ringers, is being filmed at a bar in Astoria, sources say.
After video crews and set markers were set up outside of Kelly's Bar, located at 31-04 Crescent Street, Astorians began wondering what was being filmed at the Irish pub.
Within hours, neighbors on social media and community forums confirmed that the bar is the backdrop for Amazon's Dead Ringers series, reportedly starring Rachel Weisz, Michael Chernus, and Poppy Liu.

The series is a new take on Cronenberg's psychological thriller, featuring Weisz playing the reimagined lead role of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who, in the original film, share unethical relationships with the female patients at their medical practice.
Chernus was cast as a scientist in the twins' practice, and Liu will play the twins' house manager, Deadline reported.

This isn't the first time that Kelly's has been the site of a TV show. As neighbors pointed out, some moments from Nurse Jackie were filmed at the bar, which was named 'The Red Owl' in the series.
A launch date for Amazon's Dead Ringers hasn't been announced yet.
