Driver Hit NYPD Officer During LIC Traffic Stop, Police Say

The police officer hurt his right arm and leg after a driver behind the wheel of a Mercedes Benz hit him with the car, the NYPD reported.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Police are searching for a man who they say hit a police officer with a car after getting pulled over.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 13, around 12:20 p.m., two police officers tried to pull over a car in front of 36-35 22nd Street. During the stop, however, the driver hit one of the officers, according to the NYPD.

The officer hurt his right arm and leg, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police reported.

On Sunday, police released a photo of the car and the man, who hasn't been seen since the incident.

Police did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment about what prompted the car stop.

This is the second time in the past several days that police have reported an officer getting injured in northwest Queens: On Nov. 12 the NYPD said they were looking for a woman who hit a police officer with a shoe while he was trying to control a crowd at Chubby Burgers & Chicken in Astoria.
