LIC Hit-And-Run Truck Driver Critically Injures Man, 62: Police

A truck driver reportedly being pursued by police hit a 62-year-old man in Long Island City Wednesday, critically injuring him, cops said.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A truck driver struck and critically injured a man in Long Island City on Wednesday while reportedly being pursued by police, according to authorities and reports.

The 62-year-old man was near the corner of Borden Avenue and 21st Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a white truck rammed into him, police said.

According to the Daily News, the truck may have been a stolen U-Haul, and the driver was fleeing from police when he collided with the man.

The driver fled the scene, while the man was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with "severe body trauma," police said. He was listed in critical condition.

There have been no arrests but an investigation is ongoing, police said.
