Local Art Market Coming To Astoria Cafe On Saturday

The 'Astoria Summer Art Market,' hosted by area cafe, 'These are the good old days​,' will feature homewares from 16 local makers.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A neighborhood cafe is turning into a free, local art market this weekend.

'These are the good old days,' a cafe located at 32-30 Steinway Street, is hosting 16 local makers at the 'Astoria Summer Art Market,' from noon to 5:00 p.m on Saturday, Aug. 7.

The craft fair will feature objects to "dress up your home," according to the cafe, ranging from hand-poured candles to locally-made prints and paintings.

Jewelry, plants, snacks, and of course coffee, will also be available for purchase.

Many neighbors are looking forward to the event — with dozens voicing their excitement on social media — and one even asked on a community forum if the art market will be a monthly or seasonal event moving forward.

"There are talks about some regular schedule, but for the time being just keep your ears peeled. Gotta get through this one first!" replied someone who is helping to organize the event.
