A Long Island City man was killed on a New Hampshire mountain when he slipped and fell off a ledge, according to reports and authorities.
LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A man from Long Island City was killed in a hiking accident at a New Hampshire state park on Saturday, according to authorities and reports.
Brian Kohn, 32, died when he slipped and fell off a ledge while descending Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch State Park, NBC News reported.
Authorities could not be reached Thursday to confirm Kohn's identity, but New Hampshire Fish and Game released a statement this week that described the accident.

The man who died was part of a group who had ridden up Cannon Mountain on a ski tram and planned to take the lift back down after touring the summit, authorities said.
They then decided to hike down the mountain instead down what they thought was a ski trail, though they were "not following an established hiking trail," authorities said.

As they reached a spot that was rocky, wet and steep and featured a waterfall, the group began clambering down, but lost sight of their companion.
They called 911, and first responders who hiked to the scene found the man dead at the bottom of the waterfall, authorities said.
