Man Robs Astoria Bank In Second Heist This Month, Police Say

This is the second time in Nov. that a man entered an Astoria bank, demanded money from the teller, and ran away with the cash, police said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Police are searching for a man who they say stole hundreds of dollars from an Astoria bank on Wednesday.

On Nov. 17th, around 4:45 p.m., a man walked into the Alma Bank located at 28-20 Ditmars Boulevard and passed a note to the teller demanding money, according to the NYPD.

The bank worker complied, and passed the man $337, which he took and ran away with, police reported, adding that no one was hurt during the robbery.

This heist marks the second time in Nov. that a man stole money from a bank in Astoria, following a Capital One Bank robbery last week.

It is unlikely that the banks were robbed by the same man, however, since the police described the two suspects differently.

Police said that the man who robbed Alma Bank is a light-skinned man, who is about 6-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, gray sweatpants, and a white hat, officials said.

On Thursday, NYPD officials released a surveillance photo of the man who stole from the bank.

No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation, officials said on Thursday.
