Meet Astoria's New City Council Member In Neighborhood Forum

A forum Wednesday by the Old Astoria Neighborhood Association will let residents meet and ask questions of City Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Astorians who haven't yet gotten the chance to meet one of their newest City Council members can do so in a forum this week being hosted by a neighborhood group.

The Old Astoria Neighborhood Association will hold its monthly meeting virtually starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Among the featured guests: City Councilmember Tiffany Cabán, who took office in December representing most of Astoria above 34th Avenue.

Streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, the meeting will give residents the chance to ask questions by using either website's chat function, according to the OANA.

Other presenters will include, coincidentally, Cabán's predecessor on the City Council: Costa Constantinedes, who will be representing the Variety Boys and Girls Club where he now serves as CEO.

Other agenda items include the clean-energy hydropower project being brought to Astoria by Hydro-Quebec, and another discussion of power generation in New York.

Cabán is not the only new lawmaker in the Astoria area. Just south, Julie Won took office in January in District 26, covering the Dutch Kills part of the neighborhood as well as Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside.
