Motorcyclist Dies From Medical Episode While Driving In Astoria: NYPD

A man crashed his motorcycle while riding through Astoria after having a medical episode that ultimately killed him, according to police.

The 41-year-old man was riding along Astoria Boulevard North near 43rd Street around 1 p.m. Tuesday when he suffered the unspecified episode, causing him to fall to the pavement, police said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A motorcyclist died from an apparent medical episode while driving through Astoria on Tuesday, according to police.

The 41-year-old man was riding along Astoria Boulevard North near 43rd Street around 1 p.m. Tuesday when he suffered the unspecified episode, causing him to fall to the pavement, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call found the man unconscious and unresponsive, lying in the street next to his motorcycle with minor external injuries to his body.

The man was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He did not hit any other cars or objects before crashing, according to police

The man's name is being withheld pending family notification, according to police, who added that the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate what happened.
