Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Near LaGuardia Airport, Police Say

A man died early Friday when he crashed his motorcycle on the Grand Central Parkway, causing rush-hour delays on the highway, police said.

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS — A man was killed Friday morning when he crashed his motorcycle on the Grand Central Parkway, causing rush-hour delays on the highway, police said.

The man was riding his motorcycle westbound along the parkway around 5 a.m. Friday, traveling at what authorities believe was a high speed, police said.

Around Exit 5, near East 85th Street, the man lost control of his motorcycle and hit an arterial wall, causing him to fall from his ride, police said.

Officers found him lying on the roadway with trauma to the body. The man was later pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital, police said.

The man's name was not released, though police said he was in his 30s.

No one else was injured, police said.

By 8:30 a.m., police said there were still delays along the westbound Grand Central Parkway as they investigated the crash.
