Movie Showing Rescheduled Amid Stormy Weather
A free showing of Indiana Jones in Astoria is rescheduled for next week, but moviegoers can still see the film in LIC this Thursday.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — A waterfront movie series in Astoria, which added more summer showings by popular demand, now has to cancel a film because of stormy weather conditions.
In May, The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition returned to Astoria Park for its free outdoor movie series. After a successful start-of-summer series, the development coalition — with support from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and City Council Members Costa Constantinides and Jimmy Van Bramer — added additional movie showings.
Now, in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Henri, the outdoor cinema is cancelling its Aug. 23 showing of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The film is rescheduled for Monday, Aug. 30 at 8:00 p.m., the CALDC announced.
CinemaLIC, another free, outdoor movie screening series in Long Island City's Hunter's Point South Park, is also slated to show the Raiders of the Lost Ark on the night of Thursday Aug. 26.

While CinemaLIC organizers said that movies could be rescheduled because of weather, rain leaves the city's forecast starting Tuesday, which means the LIC showing might still go on.
