New Astoria Mexican Spot Ranked One Of NYC's Best New Restaurants
Citrico Cafe snagged a spot on Time Out New York's list of the 15 best newly opened restaurants in the city. Here's what the magazine said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A newly opened Mexican eatery in Astoria is one of the best new restaurants in all of New York, according to a list by Time Out.
The 15-restaurant ranking, published last week, includes Citrico Cafe at number 14. The business opened this spring on the corner of 36th Street and 34th Avenue, in the space formerly home to Monika's Cafe Bar.
"This fun, friendly Mexican cafe & agaveria is airy, attractive, bright and loft-like with plenty of space for larger parties," Time Out wrote in Citrico's entry on the list. "Choose your own taco adventure with varieties like crispy fish, pork belly char siu and ground beef with shredded cheddar, lettuce, Cholula crema, pico de gallo and a bit of guacamole in a petite hard shell."

A longer review by the publication also hailed its long, backlit bar, big bowls of nachos, marinated cabbage, and half pollo campero. Frozen drinks are another highlight, including a margarita that can be infused with mango, strawberry or other fruit flavors.
Citrico is among four Mexican restaurants that either recently opened or will soon arrive in Astoria, joining spots like Burrito Boulevard on 30th Avenue and Mayahuel on 34th Avenue.
