Over 100 Firefighters Battle Astoria Apartment Fire, FDNY Says
The two-alarm fire broke out on Tuesday night at 44th Street and 31st Avenue, filling the residential block with sirens and smoke.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — A residential block in Astoria filled with sirens and smoke on Tuesday night as 106 firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze in an apartment building on 44th Street and 31st Avenue.
The fire broke out around 6:15 p.m. on the top floor of a three-story apartment building located at 30-89 44th Street, according to the FDNY.
Shortly after firefighters started battling the blaze, it spread to the roof of the building, prompting a second alarm around 6:33 p.m., records show.

Videos uploaded to Citizen show flames and smoke billowing out of the top of the building, as the street filled with firetrucks and firefighters responding to the blaze.
The blaze was put under control about an hour after it broke out, fire officials said.

No one was hurt in the blaze, and the cause of the fire remains unknown as of Wednesday, according to the FDNY.
