LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A straphanger was fatally hit by a 7 train at Grand Central on Friday morning, prompting delays between Queens and Manhattan amid rush hour, city agencies announced.

Around 8:35 a.m. a person was fatally hit by a train at Grand Central Station, the NYPD said.

About five minutes later, emergency teams removed the straphanger from under the train, and the MTA partially suspended 7 train service between Queensboro Plaza in Long Island City and 34 St-Hudson Yards, warning travelers to also expect delays. Power to the station, though, was not shut down, the NYPD reported.
