Popular Ramen Chain Opening Long Island City Restaurant
Kyuramen, a rapidly growing ramen chain specializing in slow-cooked broth, will open its newest restaurant near Queens Plaza on Saturday.
LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Kyuramen, a popular ramen chain in the midst of a rapid expansion, will open its newest restaurant in Long Island City on Saturday.
Located at 27-17 42nd Rd., it will occupy the ground floor of Star Tower, a 25-story building at the corner of 28th Street — steps from Queens Plaza. Signage there has advertised Kyuramen as "coming soon" for more than a year.
Centered on a signature 18-hour slow-cooked broth, Kyuramen was founded by Gary Lin, who studied "the art of ramen" in Japan before bringing it to the U.S., with a focus on affordability, according to the restaurant.

Now, Kyuramen has locations in Park Slope, Union Square, Bayside and Flushing, where its elaborate outdoor dining pavilion won plaudits during the pandemic.

Outside of New York, Kyuramen has locations in Chicago and New Jersey, with more opening soon in seven other states.

The Long Island City menu will be the same as its other locations, featuring nine different bowls of ramen — described by Gothamist as "extremely reasonably priced" — appetizers like gyoza and bao buns, and more inventive dishes like "ramen burgers."
It will be open daily, from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. during the week and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on weekends.
Each restaurant's interior is inspired by "traditional Japanese design principlesand natural accents," according to the company — described by the New York Times as "a subdued pale wood setting."
Lin, the founder, said earlier this year that Kyuramen was aiming to double its number of locations each year, from a couple dozen now to 400 within a few years.
