Queens Library's Broadway Branch Closing For Yearlong Renovations
The branch, on Broadway in Astoria, will close for a year and a half starting next month, the Queens Public Library announced Friday.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — The Broadway branch of the Queens Public Library will close for more than a year while it undergoes renovations, the system announced Friday — making it the second Astoria branch to go through an extended closure within the last couple of years.
The branch — at 40-20 Broadway, just east of Steinway Street — will close starting Saturday, March 5. It will reopen by the fall of 2023, according to the library system.
The renovations to the branch's lower level will add new public restrooms and a new computer center, while updating meeting rooms and adding new decor, QPL said in an emailed announcement. The branch's upper level previously underwent a $2.6 million, yearlong renovation between 2008 and 2009.

Patrons of the Broadway branch can visit other QPL locations in the interim, including Long Island City (37-44 21st St.), Woodside (54-22 Skillman Ave.) or Steinway (21-45 31 Street).
News of the Broadway branch's closure comes just a month after QPL's Steinway Library reopened following its own three-year, $4.9-mllion facelift.
