Rat Trap Map: These Are Astoria, LIC's Rodent Hot Spots

ASTORIA, QUEENS — There comes a time in every New Yorker's life when we must ask ourselves, do I live in a rat hole?

The city is here to help answer that very important question with a very disturbing map that tracks rat sightings on a street-by-street level.

Astoria and Long Island City residents take note: the Rat Information Portal map shows neighborhood favorites, including Astoria Park, are very much hot spots.

There were also noticeable rat-hot spots in residential areas.

  • Shore Boulevard to 19th Street between Astoria Park South and Ditmars Boulevard
  • Queens Plaza South to 40th Avenue between Vernon Boulevard and 21st Street
  • 34th Avenue to 35th Avenue between 21st Street and 24th Street
  • Broadway to 31st Avenue between 49th Street and 51st Street
  • Ditmars Boulevard to 21st Avenue between Crescent Street and 27th Street

On the other hand, there were areas that were impressively rat-free, including the stretch of roadway at Ravenswood between Crescent Street and 21st Avenue, between 33rd Road and 34th Avenue, and multiple avenues closer to Jackson Heights.

You can put your specific address into the map to see how your Western Queens block has done on its most recent rat inspection.
The breaks down addresses in all five boroughs in the following ways:

  • Passed at Last Rat Inspection (Green)
  • Rat Activity at Last Rat Inspection (Pink)
  • Failed for Other Reason at Last Rat Inspection (Purple)
  • Not Inspected in the Past 6 Months (Gray)

The map from the city's Rat Portal will also tell you the date of the address' last inspection, the number of inspections since 2015, and property information on the building.
