The Sparrow Tavern Reopens This Week After Closing In 2020
The beloved tavern closed amid the shutdown of NYC's restaurants and bars in 2020, but is reopening for dinner and drinks as of Wednesday.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A beloved Astoria tavern that shuttered amid the pandemic will fully reopen this week.
The Sparrow Tavern, located at 24-01 29th Street, is reopening for drinks — and dinner — on Wednesday, Dec. 15th, according to a post on social media.
In addition to wine, beer, and cocktails, The Sparrow is known for its full menu, including an array of tacos, burgers, and sandwiches, as well as salads and soups with locally sourced ingredients.

Wednesday's full reopening will mark the first time that Astorians have dined and drank at The Sparrow since March 2020, when the eatery closed after then-governor Andrew Cuomo mandated the shutdown of New York City's restaurants and bars.
The experience of closing The Sparrow was the subject of a documentary titled "Last Call," which showcased the impacts the pandemic had on Astoria's bar workers.
