VIDEO: Shootout Near Queens Plaza, Police Seek Suspects
Police released video of men exchanging gunfire in an early-morning shootout near Queens Plaza, as they seek a man and a car involved.
LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A man exchanged gunfire with a group of men on a Long Island City street steps from Queens Plaza, according to police, who released footage of the incident on Wednesday as they seek suspects.
The early-morning shootout on Monday began as a fight between the man and the group in front of the Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel on 40th Road and Northern Boulevard, according to police.
A short while after the fight began around 6 a.m., the man left, came back, and began shooting at the group of men, according to police.

After he fled on foot toward Northern Boulevard and 39th Avenue, the group of men followed in a white Mercedes-Benz, which can be seen on video pulling around a corner as the man walks down the sidewalk, police said.

The group fired shots at the man, who can be seen ducking for cover and returning fire down the block before jogging out of frame, police said.

Police on Wednesday released video of the shootout near 39th Avenue and photos of the man, as well as the Mercedes. Authorities described the man as being between 25 and 30 years old, with black hair, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and black-and-green sneakers.
