The man, who carried out armed robberies at four Queens convenience stores, also shot a Duane Reade worker in the head and hand.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — An armed robber who went on a violent spreed through northwest Queens will spend 43 years in prison.
Early in the morning of Nov. 26th, 2018, Elgin Brack went on a robbery spree across Queens; the now 24-year-old threatened workers at gunpoint and stole cash from a Duane Reade and 7-Eleven in Woodside, as well as two Rite Aid stores in Astoria and Jamaica, records show.
During the first robbery, at Duane Reade, Elgin shot an employee in the hand and head. The victim survived the shooting and Elgin was hit with four firearm charges — in addition to five robbery charges — as a result of the incident.

Brack was convicted on all counts after a two-week trial in March 2020, and sentenced to 43 years' imprisonment on Wednesday.
"Armed robberies... jeopardize the safety of innocent people," said Breon Peace, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, following Brack's sentencing.
