BABYLON, NY — Students at Babylon Elementary School and Babylon Memorial Grade School got an up-close look at fire safety this month as the Babylon Fire Department visited both buildings for Fire Prevention Week, school officials said.

Throughout the day, firefighters led classroom discussions, spoke with students about safety tips, and showcased the gear and tools they use during emergencies. The visit culminated in an outdoor demonstration where students explored the department’s specialized equipment and watched firefighters suit up.

A few teachers were even surprised with the title of “honorary firefighter,” adding a fun moment to the educational event.
