BABYLON, NY — A beloved Babylon toy store is celebrating one year of business by including the community in the festivities.
Argyle Toys, located at 10 Grove Place in Babylon, will be celebrating its one-year milestone on Friday with an origami event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The celebration will offer origami classes for kids of all ages, food, face painting, raffles, and more. Both online and in-store customers will also received 15 percent discounts off orders throughout the weekend.

Argyle Toys, which is owned by Babylon moms Lunz, Amber McCullough and Teresa Striker, opened its doors on June 19, 2021.
They told Patch that since then, they've doubled the size of the store, and have established their business as the "go-to" spot in town for unique toys. The three also have built an "expansive" online business, shipping toys nationwide.

Reaching this milestone was no easy feat, they said, as they learned to navigate the unpredictable challenges created by the COVID pandemic.
“We planned and prepared the best we could but there was really nothing that could prepare us
for the backlog created at the ports during the busiest season,” said Striker. “Being moms also
brought its own set of challenges as our own children faced frequent quarantines with little
childcare options. Luckily this Babylon community really rallied around us.”

Last year, the three spoke with Patch about Babylon's need for a toy store.
The business specializes in heirloom style toys, they said, and focuses on pretend play and a dedicated sensory section.

“Building a safe space for children of all ages and needs has been an amazing experience. There is nothing like a child finding the perfect toy in our sensory section or a classic wooden toy that will be passed through the family,” said McCullough. “ We look forward to many more years of celebrations to come.”
