Babylon Village Families Will 'Wheel' Around Town For A Cause
The family-friendly event asks residents to bike, skateboard or scooter around town to donate food items to local pantries.
BABYLON, NY — Babylon Village residents will combine family outdoor fun with a good cause this weekend at the "Babylon Village Wheels For Meals" event. The fundraiser asks families to "wheel" to designated locations around town, donate a non-perishable food item at drop-off points, take family selfies and donate $5 per family. Each participating family will be eligible for prizes.
To participate, you can bike, scooter, skateboard or walk with a stroller or wagon to the six drop-off locations with a donation for each between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.
Organizer and Babylon Village resident Jennifer Parendo told Patch that even though participants must travel "by wheel" to be eligible for the prizes and officially participate, they will happily accept donations by car.
More information about the event is available on a Facebook event page.

"Get those bikes, scooters and skateboards ready to rock and roll. And purchase your non-perishable food items to donate. See our list of non-perishable food items that are needed on our page.
Of course, we will gladly accept any and all non-perishable food donations by car as well. To be eligible for fun prizes, you must be on wheels propelled by human power. But feel to swing back around later if you have additional supplies to donate," the organizers wrote.
