'Indirect' Threat Against Babylon Village Deemed Not Credible: Police

The village announced it received an indirect threat on Tuesday.

BABYLON VILLAGE, NY — A threat made on social media against the Village of Babylon was deemed to be not credible, Suffolk County Police said.

First Precinct Crime Section officers were notified of a potential threat made against the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, law enforcement told Patch. The threat was later investigated and is not believed to be credible at this time, police said.

The municipal government announced on social media that it would only take appointments as a safety precaution.

"Due to an indirect threat against Babylon Village Hall and in the best interests of our employees, access to Village Hall will be by appointment only at this time," the village said in a social media post. "Please be prepared to show identification as well."

Babylon Village's Code Enforcement could not confirm with Patch more information about the threat.
