The New York Blood Center will be holding a blood drive today at Babylon Public Library.
The blood drive will take place in the New York Blood Center bus throughout the afternoon and will end at 6:45 p.m.
The center last week said it is facing a critical shortage in blood supplies due to low turnout in blood drives across the state. Schools have also only recently opened, which throughout the year host a slate of blood drives.
According to Newsday, the organization has only about 2,000 units of blood a day, when the norm is closer to 10,000 units.
