Fisherman Rescued From Long Island Creek: Police

Law enforcement and firefighters rescued an elderly fisherman stuck in a creek on Long Island on Wednesday, police say.

BABYLON, NY – A fisherman stuck in a Long Island creek was rescued by law enforcement on Wednesday, Suffolk County police told Patch.

Police said a 69-year-old man was fishing in a creek south of Locust Avenue in Babylon around 12:30 p.m. when his fishing pole got stuck in the water. The man went into the creek, his waders filled with water and he got stuck, police said.

First Precinct police officers and Department of Environmental Conservation officers and firefighters responded to the scene and helped the fisherman out of the creek, police said.

He was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for evaluation, police said.
