In recognition of National School Library Month, students of Forest Avenue Elementary School in the West Babylon School District took part in a special library celebration in the form of a cultural arts program sponsored by the Forest Avenue PTA.

During Christopher Agostino's “Story Faces: Tales of Transformation and Wonder,” students were treated to the art of storytelling, accompanied by unique face painting. Students in the audience were selected to have folktales painted on their faces as the stories were told. The audience was captivated by both the oral storytelling and the painted retelling of culturally diverse folktales.

"This was an incredibly creative way for students to not only hear but also see how different cultures are interwoven in folktales through the art of storytelling, which we celebrate in the library on a daily basis," said school library media specialist Andrea Francisco.
