Former West Babylon Kmart To Be Redeveloped
The $20 million plan will reportedly reduce the building size by 19 percent and divide the interior space to create more tenant units.

WEST BABYLON, NY — The site of a former West Babylon Kmart is set for its next chapter.
The Town of Babylon recently approved Elias Properties Management Inc., a family-owned real estate investment company, to redevelop the 185,118-square-foot building at 1000 Montauk Highway, officials said.
The $20 million plan would reduce the size of the building by 19 percent and divide the interior space to create more tenant units. Improvements also will include landscaping at the 12.3-acre site.

"We are excited for the redevelopment of this property as it sits in a central location in West Babylon, and we look forward to welcoming new businesses at this site to the town in the future," town spokesman Kevin Bonner told Patch.

New tenants will be arriving in 2023, which is when the major construction work will begin, Elias told Newsday.
