Grade Schoolers Plant the Seeds of Learning
Grade School's bookworms help plant new flowers outside after summer reading assignments.
A group of Babylon Memorial Grade School students took part in a Summer Reading Planting Celebration this September.
The students, who participated in this past summer’s school reading program themed “Dig into Reading," completed two or more written response forms.
All of the students that completed the summer reading assignment helped beautify the grounds by planting flowers that will bloom later this spring.
All of the students were named to the school's Summer Reading Honor Roll and had their names displayed outside the cafeteria.
Among the books the students were assigned to read included “Esperanza Rising” by Pam Munoz Ryan, “Because of Winn-Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo, “The Borrowers” by Mary Norton and “The Houdini Box” by Brian Selznick.
