Home Health Aid Accused Of Stealing From 90-Year-Old LI Woman
A home health aide is accused of stealing almost $2,000 by using an elderly woman's credit card on Amazon, New York State police say.
BABYLON, NY — A home health aide has been charged with stealing almost $2,000 from an elderly Babylon resident, according to New York State police.
In late October, the family of a 90-year-old woman from Babylon contacted the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and reported that they noticed several suspicious transactions on the victim’s bank statements totaling in $1850.46 worth of unauthorized Amazon purchases, police said.
An investigation revealed that the victim’s home health aide, Jeneva F. Polwah, 39, of Levittown used the victim's debit card to make several Amazon purchases between June 2024 and October 202, police said.

Police said Polwah "misused her position of trust" to steal money from the woman.
Polwah was arrested Nov. 11 and charged with second-degree identity theft, a class E felony, fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, and third-degree unlawful possession of personal identification information, a misdemeanor, police said.

She is due back to Suffolk County First District Court on Nov. 29, police said.
