How One Rescue Dog Helped West Babylon Kids Learn About Veterans’ Service
South Bay Elementary welcomes Paws of War and service dog Echo ahead of Veterans Day
WEST BABYLON, NY — In honor of Veterans Day, South Bay Elementary School students received a special visit on Thursday from representatives of Paws of War, a nonprofit that rescues and trains shelter dogs to assist military veterans and first responders.
Students met Echo, a service dog, and learned how Paws of War helps reunite deployed service members with animals they’ve bonded with overseas. The organization also provides ongoing training and support for both the animals and their handlers.
Through its mission, Paws of War works to transform the lives of both veterans and rescue dogs — giving each a second chance while strengthening the bond between people and animals.
