Illegal 'Pop-Up Party' Busted By Babylon Town Officials, Police
Suffolk police and Town of Babylon officials shut down an illegal "pop-up" party organized and advertised via Snapchat on Saturday night.

BABYLON, NY — An illegal late-night "pop-up" party in East Farmingdale was shut down Saturday night by Suffolk police and Babylon's Quality of Life Task Force, town officials told Patch.
The parties—which feature large crowds, drinking and loud music late at night— are pop-up events organized and advertised via social media, including Snapchat, Ryan Bonner, Town of Babylon Director of Communications, told Patch.
According to Bonner, police made two arrests and issued summonses to around 30 attendees. Some vehicles parked on the property had "massive" speakers mounted on them, he added.

"These groups tend to congregate at a few locations including Deer Park LIRR station, West Babylon Industrial area and the Farmingdale industrial area," Bonner said. "The individuals organizing the event typically use lookouts to warn of any enforcement presence."
Babylon officials and police were notified about the illegal pop-up party by residents who live in West Babylon, Farmingdale and Amityville who could hear the music from their homes, Bonner said.

The massive speakers play music so loudly that it can be heard as far as West Babylon, Dix Hills and Melville, town officials said.
“Anyone caught attending or organizing these events within the Town of Babylon will be prosecuted and may have their vehicles impounded,” Supervisor Rich Schaffer said.
