Longtime Babylon Village Colorist Opens Her Own New Salon HUE
The new full-service hair salon took over the former Hair Stories space on Deer Park Avenue and will focus on cutting-edge color and cuts.

BABYLON, NY — Shalyn Abramovich has been passionate about coloring hair in Babylon Village for 15 years, and earlier this month her dream to open her own salon has come to fruition.
Salon HUE took over the former Hair Stories space at 240 Deer Park Avenue, and opened its doors on March 3.
Abramovich tells Patch that she knew she'd launch her own business in Babylon Village.

"I have always loved the sense of community and wanted a chance to really be involved in the chamber myself. I also knew my existing clients would appreciate the convenience of me staying in Babylon."
Salon HUE is a full-service hair salon, but because Abramovich is known for doing color, the name reflects her passions.

"Color has always been my passion. It’s what I do, it’s what I love, and I wanted that to reflect in the name. HUE does not just stand for color. It’s also an acronym for what we stand for: Hair. Unity. Education."
Opening her first salon was the culmination of months of work, and what she called "passion, perserverance and a lot of sleepless nights."
Abramovich added that the focus on education is something she believes will set her business apart.
"We are huge on education. I am employed as an educator with Wella, an internationally used hair company. In addition to showing our staff everything I’ve learned over the years, our stylists and assistants are continuing to frequently take classes to stay up to date on the latest trends and new techniques."
"We are a family, and I want our clients to feel that walking into our salon."
