Man Hits Low-Hanging Wires, Crashes Car On Route 109: PD

A man was hospitalized with minor injuries Wednesday night after hitting low-hanging wires on Route 109 in West Babylon, police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY — A man was hospitalized with minor injuries Wednesday night after hitting low-hanging wires on Route 109 in West Babylon, Suffolk County police said.

A 27-year-old male was driving a 2021 Honda when he struck a low-hanging wire, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and hit a tree at around 11 p.m. on May 22, police said.

The man was taken to local hospital for minor injuries.

The crash also caused damage to a pole, causing road closures in both directions between Little East Neck Road and Edel Avenue Thursday morning while PSEG works to repair it, police said.

Police are advising motorists that both directions of Route 109 in West Babylon will be closed Thursday morning.
