Man Drowns, Found Floating Near Grass Island: Police
The man was found unresponsive when officers arrived, police say.

GREAT SOUTH BAY, NY — A man is dead after he drowned in the Great South Bay on Tuesday, Suffolk County police said.
Around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, police received a 911 phone call, reporting someone was floating in a foot of water near Grass Island, about a mile south of Fire Island Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man unresponsive and pulled him from the water. The man was declared dead, police said.

The man was taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be performed to identify the victim, police said.
