TOWN OF BABYLON, NY — Two adoptable dogs from the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter are getting ready to strut their stuff.

Floki, 5 to 6 years-old, and Theodora, 1 to 2-years old, will walk with the shelter in Lindenhurst's Second Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday.

Floki arrived at the Babylon Animal Shelter in May of 2021 after having been found a stray, the shelter said. No one ever came looking for him, "leaving him heartbroken" behind shelter walls.

Volunteers describe Floki as a "happy guy" who enjoys his time spent with you.

He can be playful and engaging while being exercised. Floki walks nicely on leash, and he really enjoys sitting at your side for loving.

"Floki loves a good roll in the grass and a good run in the yard," they said.

He needs to be the only pet in a home, but he does have good manners walking on leash around other dogs.

Floki even has his own Facebook page, "Floki Wants To Go Home."

Theadora arrived at the shelter on January 20. She was on the run for weeks, and the shelter believe she travelled from Nassau County into Suffolk County before being caught by volunteer trappers.

She was underweight, scared, and down on her luck. However, Theadora quickly gained weight and gained the trust of those close. Meeting new people still takes some transitioning for Theadora, but with multiple visits, she warms up.

"Theadora would love a home to call her own and to feel safe," volunteers said. Once she knows there is commitment, she really hams it up and shows her happy, go-lucky self."
