'Warmth, High Vibes, Community': New Pilates Studio Comes To Long Island

BABYLON, NY — A new Pilates studio is opening on Long Island this summer.

Pilates Social Club, a mat Pilates and reformer studio, is set to open in Babylon Village on Deer Park Avenue on July 14.

Owners Ryan and Ashley Burbes, a husband-and-wife duo, told Patch that their mission is simple: to create a beautiful, welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.

The Babylon studio is the couple's second, which joins its sister location in Seaford. Ashley said the inspiration for opening Pilates Social Club was "deeply personal."

"I never felt comfortable in the studios I used to go to," she said. "I always felt nervous or intimidated. I wanted to create a space that felt the opposite of that—something small, aesthetic and filled with good energy. A place where women who’ve experienced that same kind of gym anxiety could feel safe, supported and confident."

So, with no formal background in Pilates, Ashley got certified as a Pilates instructor and they opened the Seaford studio about a year ago while juggling life with two children.

They said both studios are "infused with warmth, high vibes and community—something clients feel the moment they walk in the door."

As the PSC team prepares to open their doors in July, they're taking care of the final touches and looking for certified reformer pilates instructors to join the team.

"We've created more than a Pilates studio," Ashley said. "We’ve built a space where confidence grows, friendships form and wellness becomes a lifestyle.

The new Babylon Village Pilates Social Club studio is located at 65 Deer Park Ave.

The Seaford studio is located at 3612 Merrick Road.
