Party Supply Store On Long Island Celebrates Grand Opening
A new party supply store offering decorations, helium balloons and full-service party planning celebrated its grand opening on Long Island.
BABYLON, NY — A new party supply shop on Long Island celebrated its grand opening on Thursday in Babylon Village.
Party Fairies, a locally owned, boutique party shop, opened in April in conjunction with the village Easter egg hunt, and offers a wide variety of decorations, full-service party planning and a helium "balloon bar."
The colorful shop is owned by Maggie Fasano, a Babylon resident for 24 years, and Deer Park's Krystal Krill.

The celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, raffles, music and other festivities. Friends, family, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Terence McSweeney and other elected officials attended.
The brick-and-mortar shop was a natural evolution for what was Fasano's party planning "side gig" after the two became friends last year.

"I always wanted to bring the business to a storefront. We're in-person people, we like to chit chat with customers and connect with people," Fasano told Patch in a prior interview.
Fasano's side gig started years ago after she and her "very dear friend," Linda Cosentino, brainstormed business ideas.
"Our kids were the same age and we were stay-at-home moms. As our kids got older, we started thinking, 'there's gotta be something more than just driving to PTA meetings and soccer games,"' she said.
So the friends became party planners, creating backdrops, balloon arches and everything anyone could need for any type of celebration—from sweet 16s to dinosaur birthdays and retirement parties— Maggie and Linda could do it.
As their kids grew, the business did too, and they dreamed of opening a shop.
But in 2023, life as Fasano knew it changed forever when Cosentino died from a brain aneurysm. She was only 53.
After that, "everything got completely crazy," she said.
But Fasano persevered and processed her grief by sharing joy through party planning.
Fasano held onto their dream of opening a store and already had its name from a memory of Linda that she holds close to her heart.
"She was helping me with my daughter's sweet 16 party. When my daughter walked in, she was so amazed and said, 'Linda, you're like a party fairy.' And that's how we got the name," Fasano said. "Linda is my angel fairy, but everyone will always remember her as the party fairy."
Shortly after Fasano and Krill met last summer, Party City went out of business, closing all stores nationwide, including 14 on Long Island.
The duo realized it was now or never for opening a party shop.
"When Party City closed, there was a void to fill. We started hearing murmurs, like, 'there's nowhere to get helium balloons filled,'" Fasano said. "So we took the leap."
Fasano said it wouldn't have been possible without Krill as a partner.
"A lot of work went into it," Fasano said. "It was a rocky road getting here and it took a different path than expected, but we're so excited."
The vibrant shop offers a wide array of party decorations—piñatas, holiday decor, candy, wrapping paper and so much more. But the heart and soul of Party Fairies—full-service party planning—is still going full swing.
"It really is a labor of love," Fasano said. "And that is what Party Fairies always seem to do, bring people together in a happy way. Everybody is happy when they are celebrating."
The Party Fairies is located at 10 Grove Place in Babylon and is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
