WEST BABYLON, NY — Veterans were honored with heartfelt appreciation at two West Babylon elementary schools on Monday as students, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate Veterans Day.

At John F. Kennedy Elementary School, students welcomed family members and local veterans for a breakfast in the cafeteria before a recognition ceremony in the gymnasium. Principal Denisha Van Liew and several students spoke about the importance of honoring those who served, and each veteran received a personalized certificate of appreciation.

Town of Babylon Councilman Terence McSweeney and Town Clerk Gerry Compitello attended the event, thanking the veterans for their service and sacrifice.
