Police Rescue Ralphie The Golden From Pond On Long Island

The 12-year-old dog was treated for hypothermia.

Police officers rescued a 12-year-old dog named Ralphie from a backyard pond in West Babylon on Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, Suffolk Police officers responded to a report of a Golden Retriever that was trapped in a pond in the backyard of a home, located on the 1500-block of 5th St., at 8:20 a.m.

Two police officers used an animal control pole and snow shovels to free the dog's legs, which were tangled in tubing, and remove him from the pond.

Ralphie's owner took him to a veterinarian to be treated for hypothermia.
