Reworld™ Joins the Town of Babylon for Annual Earth Day Celebration

Reworld™, a leader in sustainable waste solutions, recently partnered with the Town of Babylon to commemorate Earth Day at Geiger Park.

The event highlighted numerous initiatives designed to promote ecological awareness and strengthen community involvement. Over 150 residents from across Suffolk County took part in this year’s Earth Day celebration.

“At Reworld™, we are focused on providing environmentally responsible waste solutions to our communities" said Maureen Early, Senior Community Affairs Specialist at Reworld™. “This event was a great opportunity to bring the community together to learn, celebrate, and take meaningful action in honor of Earth Day."

Distinguished speakers at the event included Casey Personius, Ocean Coordinator at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and Ty Fuller, Lead Hydrologist at the Suffolk County Water Authority. They addressed a range of important topics, including ocean conservation, horticulture, hydrology, and community wellness. Attendees also enjoyed guided tours of the botanical gardens, led by local experts, while children participated in interactive craft activities organized by the Town of Babylon Parks Department.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of scholarships recognizing students dedicated to environmental stewardship. Reworld™ proudly sponsored ten of the scholarships awarded, with amounts ranging from $100 to $1,000, to honor exceptional commitment to protecting the planet and to support students pursuing education in environmental fields. For over 15 years, Reworld™ has partnered with the Town of Babylon to sponsor both the Earth Day celebration and these scholarships, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the town and its community.

"Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect and preserve the environment," said Rich Schaffer, Babylon Town Supervisor. "It's truly inspiring to see individuals and organizations unite in support of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices that have a lasting impact on our community and beyond."

The Town of Babylon, Reworld™, and other participating organizations demonstrated their commitment to sustainability by distributing 200 tote bags made from recycled plastic bottles, along with complimentary T-shirts, water tumblers, and other eco-friendly giveaways. The Suffolk County Police Department First Precinct facilitated a free Prescription Drug Drop-Off on-site, promoting responsible disposal practices for the community to participate in.
