Robert Moses Bridge Work Underway
Single-lane, alternating directional travel operations on the Robert Moses Causeway bridge will continue until late June due to repairs.

Commuters using the Robert Moses Causeway bridge should expect travel delays through the end of June as the state Department of Transportation undertakes repair and painting.
Single-lane, alternating directional travel operations are now in effect , according to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYDOT), with southbound motorists are being stopped for a brief period while northbound motorists utilize the single available travel lane. Then northbound motorists are stopped while southbound motorists proceed.
The main channel of the Fire Island Inlet remains opened to mariners.
The single lane operation is in effect Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The single-lane traffic pattern is needed to perform steel repairs and help assure the safe operation of the nearly 50-year-old Fire Island Inlet Bridge, said the NYDOT.

The NYDOT reminds motorists to drive carefully through the work zone, obey the posted construction speed limit and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew.
It also reminds motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, and in accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
