Suffolk County To Spray Aerial Mosquito Larvicide Into Marshes
The spraying will take on Wednesday. Read on to see which marshes will be affected.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Beginning on Wednesday, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of Long Island marshes by helicopter, to control mosquito larvae.
The application will continue through Friday and will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m..
Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day, a release said.

The pesticides, VectoPrime FG [Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) and Altosid (Methoprene)], will be distributed via a low altitude helicopter and with granular application.
The following marshes are listed below. Marshes that will be treated are marked “Yes.” Marshes marked “Pending” will be rechecked on Wednesday and may be added, if required:
