BABYLON, NY — Everybody has a favorite teacher — maybe it's a teacher who went out of their way to make one student's day or a teacher who brightens up a classroom, whether virtually or in-person, every day.

One teacher who deserves a shout-out is Ms. Melissa Anderson, a French teacher at Babylon Jr./Sr. High School. She was nominated by Diane Mandel.

Here's what Mandel had to say about Ms. Anderson:

Mrs. Anderson is a French teacher at Babylon Jr/Sr High School. She makes learning so much fun that it leaves my daughter wanting to learn more. She not only teaches the language she introduces them to French music and culture, also French food. Her compassion, dedication and energy are endless. My daughter is virtual, so I had the pleasure of getting to know her and why my daughter loves her class. Her interaction with the kids not only educates them it brings them out of their comfort zone and lets them be the person they are not who they think they have to be. The love for her students shows in so many ways. We stopped by one of her food drives and she got to see my daughter in person. Since going virtual she had tears in her eyes. I am grateful for Mrs. Anderson for putting the love of learning into my daughter’s life.

Congratulations to Mrs. Anderson! Thank you for all that you do!
