Teen Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Pickup Truck On Long Island: Police

A teenager was killed in a crash with a Chevrolet pickup truck on Long Island Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police say.

BABYLON, NY — A teen motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a truck in Babylon on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.

Victor Hansen, 84, of Babylon, was operating a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck on Tappan Avenue when he turned onto the eastbound lanes on West Main Street and struck a teenager operating a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle that was traveling westbound around 3:08 p.m., police said.

The motorcyclist, Robert Buerkle, 17, of West Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Hansen was not injured and both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
